CARBODIN to improve car body shell manufacture with composite materials

Published by Christine Hassoun on

Rail is the most sustainable mode of transport in Europe. For the next generation of passenger trains to be successful, innovative and affordable solutions are needed.

In this context, the Shift2Rail project CARBODIN belonging to Innovation Programme 1, will focus on three different areas:

  1. Development of smart, automated, modular and cost-efficient mould processes for car body shell manufacturing.
  2. Development of innovative manufacturing processes and technologies able to reduce the system’s weight and improve passengers’ comfort thanks to better acoustic and thermal behaviour and the elimination of accessibility barriers.
  3. Interiors of innovative carbodies.
